OPUS successfully completed 24 consecutive months working on the prestigious
BAA’s Heathrow T5 Terminal Project in April 2008, without a single lost time
accident. In this period on site OPUS expended in excess 170,000 man-hours and
this is a great testimonial to everyone at OPUS involved in the project for all
their hard work, understanding and positive attitude to continuous high standard
of Safety.
Mike Pearce – BAA Construction Director
“During my time as BAA Construction Director on the T5 Project we experienced a
number of problems often associated with major construction projects such as HSE
Performance, Budget Restraints and Programme Expectations. To this end we were
constantly in pursuit of improvements and innovation to resolve these issues.
Initially a small number of operatives and a Technical Manager were brought on to site with the defined remit to perform various tasks at high level utilising Rope Access, without impinging existing ongoing activities. Tasks such as Coatings, Window Cleaning, Cable Pulling, Fire Stopping and Mechanical Installations were successfully completed by the Opus team of skilled Rope Access Tradesmen. All Rope Access activities were completed on Programme, Safely and in full compliance with IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) standards. The success of the Opus team generated substantial cost savings against the planned Budgets without impacting other operative’s access to large areas of the site.
In the latter stages of the project the provision of Rope Access grew significantly, to the extent Opus provided circa 60 working operatives along with supervision backed by a site team consisting of a Technical Manager, Site Manager and an Administrator, supported by their Head Office and Senior Management.
To conclude I would have no hesitation in recommending Opus Industrial Services Ltd, to any prospective clients, as my experience of the company indicates they are a highly dedicated and proficient company with excellent Senior Management and Staff.
If you require clarity on any of the above or require any additional information please do not hesitate to contact me”

“Opus Industrial Services Ltd has recently completed a substantial programme of
refurbishment works at a number of our venues around Sheffield, including Don
Valley Stadium, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and Hillsborough Leisure
Centre.
The works have included structural steel painting and fire protective coverings, node and joint seals and replacements, duct cleaning and cladding refurbishment.
All of these works have carried out to a professional standard and have been completed on time and within budgets.
Their staff and supervision have been cooperative, efficient and effective and have at all time respected the needs of busy venues which have been open to the public.
Their safety standards and procedures have been excellent.
We are very pleased with the works done. I would have no hesitation in recommending OPUS for works of a similar nature, and would be pleased to personally answer any specific questions”

JN Bentley Subcontractor Performance Awards 2008
“At JN Bentley we’re committed to our vision to Bentley First Choice for our clients, but we know that we wouldn’t able to achieve this without the ongoing help and support from our supply chain partners, most of whom have completed Subcontract works to a standard that we deem to be satisfactory and, in many cases, above this standard.
Your current performance on orders completed during 2007 is better than our acceptable standard.
To compile our league table, our project teams apply a weighted scoring system to every completed order against a set of categories to calculate the overall performance score (1 = excellent performance, 2.75 = satisfactory and 5 = poor). In 2007 our minimum acceptable standard was set at 2.75, slightly tougher than a standard of 3.0 in 2006.
Your score for the year was 2.14
Once again, many thanks for your ongoing support.

We contracted with OPUS to provide a Rescue Services on the Longannet FGD
Project over one year ago now.
The service from OPUS is professional and provides vital support to the project, in both pre-planning of the work and preparation and application of Rescue Plans.
Our Rescue Cover requirements are quite varied from usual sites, as we are heavily involved in working in Confined Spaces, Extreme Height and Over Water.
OPUS has provided a well balanced cost effective approach allowing us to meet our programme dates and keep us well within the legislative requirements.
May we take this opportunity to thank OPUS for providing a highly competent service, which has helped in establishing AMEC miles ahead of our competitions and Clients alike.
It must be remembered that having the Rescue Service is sometimes one element of Project Management that often over-looked, but we now challenge all of our clients by asking "is your home insured, yes is the most common answer, but would you ever consider not having home insurance, no generally being the retort, then why don’t you employ the same ethos to your place of work”
On behalf of Amec thank you once again.

“As Construction Manager for Whessoe Volker Stevin, I was responsible for the selection of Subcontractors and Co-ordinating their activities on site.
OPUS has spent the last 2 ½ years heavily involved in the Onsite and Offsite Application of Fire Protection and Coating Systems, together with the provision of Rope Access Services, they have consistently performed to a very high level.
During this time OPUS’s approach to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality has been exemplary and their pro-active approach to the Project has enabled Targets and Goals to be met.
I would not hesitate in considering OPUS for similar works on future Projects and I will be looking to exploring the other range of services that OPUS can provide”

“OPUS has recently completed a series of works at Manchester Airport and our
experience with the company was that they performed very well, without any
incidents or occurrences.
Throughout their time on site, all of OPUS’s Management, Supervision and Labour showed a good understanding of working within the constraints of Aviation control measures.
We will certainly be considering OPUS for any future works and we happily recommend them to other companies in pursuit of high calibre delivery of Industrial Services.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information”

During my summer break, I obtained two weeks work experience with Opus
Industrial Services at Billingham.
I shadowed the Quantity Surveyor, gaining an insight into the Commercial and Construction Industry. I was involved in valuations, measurement of structural steel, cost control, rope access database management, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Assessments and I.T Support.
The staff were really helpful and friendly their expertise and knowledge of this industry has been invaluable and I found the whole experience beneficial. They all made me feel involved in their company and their enthusiasm and professionalism was infectious. This will definitely be an experience I will remember and hopefully use in my time ahead at University.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank your teams for the extremely professional job they have just completed here at the Energy Centre.
They immediately understood the time pressure they were under whilst totally appreciating the catastrophic effect to the whole of the T5 project any breakages or extended down time would incur.
No probe means, No chillers, No IT cooling, No Van der Lande, No Boiler Load Testing, etc, etc. If that's not stressful what is?
Although being from very different disciplines, they planned the job together, had many "hold points" to discuss any potential difficulties, regularly informed me of progress and queried any issues that might cause difficulties for future maintainability.
All in all a BIG THANKS to OPUS and AMEC Facilities
